Jane has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. She won her first prize for an animal story in a SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) contest in the third grade. She has also kept a journal since 1976, and functions best with a pen in her hand!

Jane's published writing consists of articles in non-profit magazines, and the text for Gene's Pencil Drawing books.

When Gene and Jane moved to Arkansas , she began to write vignettes about the rural life that he was painting, to help her embrace her new world and to provide narrative for his work. Her essays and stories have hung with Gene's paintings in major art centers across Arkansas .

Since February of 2005, Jane has focused her attention on the french fable tales – one of her most exciting projects so far! Jane draws her inspiration from avid reading of art and literature, European fairy tales, and her varied travels – real and armchair. While carefully researched for authentic detail, this imaginary world of loosely interpreted Provençal influence has universal appeal.

Inspired by C. S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane loves to travel in imaginary worlds, where ideas, truth, and beauty grab her unexpectedly. There the triteness of routine and details of daily responsibilities that can easily cloud the mind are laid aside. She says, for her, the truth is always more vivid – more clear – when looking at life from a different angle – in stories.
